There are three types of abnormal feeding behaviors in cats: anorexia, bulimia, and pica. There are many potential threats in these three behaviors. Anorexia can lead to internal dysfunction in cats; bulimia can cause cats to be overweight; pica can easily lead to cats getting stuck on foreign objects or food poisoning. So it should be corrected in time.
1. Cats with anorexia show lack of appetite or even refusal to eat. This situation may be due to unclean utensils or feeding sites or unclean food, and should be replaced with clean feeding sites and food. There is also a case of respiratory diseases. After taking medical measures, the cat must be forced to eat delicious food to induce appetite.
2. Cats with bulimia will not have much impact on the body at the beginning. But after a period of time, it will cause obesity. At this time, it is necessary to increase the amount of exercise of the cat on the one hand, and feed it low-calorie food on the other hand. Hunger therapy and diet therapy should be used under the advice of a veterinarian. Do not try them yourself, as they will have adverse consequences for cats.
3. Cats with pica become ingesting things other than their normal diet. We often find cats gnawing on their own plants or chewing on wool, etc. The first method is to let it have a conditioned reflex. When the cat is eating a foreign body, you can spray water or roar to scare it, so that the cat will correct the pica after a few times. Or you can apply scents that your cat is not used to, such as vinegar, deodorant, etc., on items that your cat likes to lick. But it won’t work once, you must try several times.
